In 2015 I will be writing a Sentence a Day. You can read more about why here.
Today is the 8 January 2015.
Question:
Write down something you learnt today.
Answer:
In a world of terror and fanaticism where nothing is certain and you have to keep believing it will all be OK, sometimes you just need to focus on something irrelevant but wonderful to block out the horror - so today, thanks to Look Magazine, as a fashion devotee I learned that Kate Moss has three wardrobes - one big one and two everyday wardrobes, and recently she HIRED SOME PEOPLE to sort them out who archived everything, putting it all in paper and boxes labelled with Polaroids.
Constantly bombarded with news of tragedy beyond comprehension, this was a small thing that made me smile and answered a question I posed in a recent blog post about Kate. 'Sometimes at night I am kept awake with thoughts of that wardrobe. How big is it? Is it organised by colour? By defining era? Do things get lost?'
With the deepest respect, my heart goes out to the victims at Charlie Hebdo magazine who lost their lives on 7 January 2015 for believing in liberté, égalité and fraternité and the unarmed police officer who was killed in Paris this morning. May they rest in peace.
