Hello, I’m Nicola.

I’m a freelance writer and podcaster based in east London.

After dedicating more than 20 years to a career in HR (and juggling it part-time while nurturing my freelance writing business for the past 7 years), in October 2023 I embarked on a new chapter and left the HR profession to focus solely on writing and podcasting.

I bring heaps of transferable skills with me, including project management, organisation and insight and analytical skills. Strong written communication is crucial in HR so I have substantial experience in drafting emails, policies and reports as well as training materials and presentations.

As a freelance writer, I help businesses and creatives find a way with words by:

• crafting high-quality and engaging articles, features and blogs on music, lifestyle trends, careers, and more

• creating biographies, business profiles and ‘About’ pages on websites, social media and streaming platforms

• writing case studies and reports

• providing support with editing - when a fresh pair of proofreading eyes is needed to spot any pesky errors or a hand with structuring words powerfully and coherently

• conducting interviews; transforming people's narratives into engaging features, which some of my clients use as marketing tools

• creating tailored content for social media platforms and websites

• telling stories about people, where they live and what they do

• leveraging the power of words for marketing products, services and brands

• writing press releases and single and album launches for musicians

• writing gig reviews and conducting interviews for Rockshot Magazine

…anything that involves words!

I also write my own Substack newsletter, Retreat by Nicola Greenbrook

I’m also a co-presenter for Pause and Play it Forward - a music podcast for time-stretched music lovers and I write a Substack newsletter called Retreat by Nicola Greenbrook.
